 The days are getting longer, but it’s been a rainy winter and early spring. The Recreation Committee looks forward to our upcoming and future events that vary from indoors at the Amenity Center to the ever popular Sea Thunder boat trip to Ocean Isle. Save the dates for Tidewater’s Summer Concert series, Pool Party and Beach Cabana Happy Hours!

Friday, April 3 - Happy Hour at the Amenity Center will be a Trivia Night with dinner at 5PM and Trivia at 6PM. Please bring an appetizer or dessert to share with your table, as well as your favorite beverage. The Recreation Committee will provide ice, plates, cups, napkins, and silverware. PLEASE NOTE: This event is currently SOLD OUT. Trivia Night will be scheduled again in the near future. It is a popular event so you are encouraged to sign up as soon as it is announced.
 
Wednesday, April 15 - Tidewater’s popular spring boat trip returns for a cruise up the Intracoastal Waterway to Ocean Isle on Wednesday, April 15, with our own Captain Harold (rain date Thursday, April 16). We will leave Harborgate Marina (2131 Little River Neck Road) at 4PM with boarding beginning at 3:30PM. The boat will return at 6:30PM. Be sure to bring a sweater or jacket, as it may be cool on our way home. The cost is just $6 per person for the round-trip boat ride (dinner is additional). Reservations can be made by following the instructions at the end of the Recreation Committee column. Feel free to bring drinks and/or snacks on the boat. Dinner will be served at either Sharkey’s or Ocean Isle Fish Co. Please include which restaurant is your first choice for dinner on your reservation envelope – and the first 50 responses are guaranteed seating at that restaurant. Friday, May 1 - Save the date for the first Beach Cabana Happy Hour of the summer season. What a great way to welcome spring with good food and good friends. There will be a Margaritaville theme to this evening with music ranging from Jimmy Buffet to reggae and steel drums. Remember, it’s 5 O-clock Somewhere! Bring a heavy appetizer or dessert, enough for 8 people to share, plus your own beverages. Ice, cups, plates and flatware will be provided. This event kicks off at 6PM with food being served at 6:30PM and ending at 8PM. 
 
Sunday, May 31 - Tidewater’s first outdoor summer concert will be held with Gary Lowder and Smokin’ Hot band performing. This will be a BYO bottle and snacks event beginning at 6PM and ending at 8PM. This is a free event, and it is held outside on the horseshoe in front of the Amenity Center. Bring your own chair.

 

  

Reservation Procedure:

 

Please read below to sign up for an event!

 

YOUR CHECK IS YOUR REGISTRATION: To register for an event, place your check made out to ROTSC in an envelope. On the

 

outside of the envelope include the following: names of all people attending, your phone number and email address. Place the envelope

 

in the gold mail box at the Fitness Center by the advertised cutoff date. There will be a notice on the box if the event is full and a waiting

 

list will be established if necessary.

 

For events where reserved tables are available, payments for a full table of 10 must be included in one envelope. If you are not part of a

 

reserved table, you will be assigned to a table with others. If you are out of town, you may mail your check and information to the

Craft Chat - Join the fun and socialize with friends and neighbors on the FIRST MONDAY of each month. Meet at the Amenity Center from 11:30AM until 3PM and enjoy each other’s company while working on your projects. No sign up is required, but email This email address is being protected from spambots. Smartphone/Tablet Photo Editing Workshop - Renee Tollison has been a professional photographer for over 20 years. Please join her for a mobile image editing workshop. At the conclusion of the workshop, you will have gained a foundational knowledge of mobile image editing using free apps on your smartphone or tablet. The workshop will be held on Monday, April 13 at the Amenity Center from 10AM until 12:30PM. The cost of the workshop is $5. Participants will need to bring their mobile device fully charged (preferably a tablet), a stylus, and 2-3 image files that need improving stored on their mobile device. Watercolor Workshop - Marylou Convery is delighted to present another fun watercolor workshop, Coastal Marsh. She will be showing one of her favorite things to do with watercolor - letting the paint move on its own using wet-on-wet washes. The workshop is Monday, April 20 at the Amenity Center starting at 12:30PM. The class fee is $10. Please RSVP to Marylou by Friday, April 10 at mlconvery@ gmail.com to receive the supply list. Enjoy an afternoon of watching paint move on its own, creating blends and shapes by itself!
 
Canvas Bag - Workshop Learn how to change the look of a plain looking bag using the paper napkin decoupage technique with Kathy Turnauer and Sally Felker. According to historians, decoupage has been around since the 12th century. Old and new, it has a charm of a time gone by and things worth keeping. The workshop is Monday, April 27 at the Amenity Center starting at 10AM. The class fee is $10 and is limited to 10 people. The canvas 12x16 bag and other decor will be provided. Tidewater Quilters - The TW Quilters group is actively seeking new members to join us on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month. We are a mix of experienced to beginning quilters who share know-how and friendship as we work on individual and group projects.
