We say goodbye and sincere thanks to our outgoing members - Joyce Macphee, who served as Secretary in 2018 and served on the Happy Hour subcommittee 2019, and Gerri Gavay, who served as chair for the food subcommittee from 2017 through 2019 and the lead for Road Trip to Charleston 2019; and welcome new member, Billy Karl. There are lots of fun events planned for the rest of this year, so come out and meet your neighbors!


Upcoming Events:

Wednesday, September 4 - Ride ‘N Dine is back again by popular demand. Not a golfer, but would like to see the beauty of

Tidewater Golf Course and share the experience with family and friends? The Recreation Committee along with the Tidewater Golf Course would like you to join us Wednesday, September 4, for an enjoyable evening of fun. We will gather at the Clubhouse at 4:15 PM, tour the course from 4:30-5:30 PM, meet some neighbors with surprises along the way and then meet for drinks at the Tidewater Grille followed by dinner at 6 PM. If you just want to join us for dinner, the instructions and cost are the same. The menu will consist of Salad Bar, Fried Chicken, Lasagna, Corn Soufflé, Mixed Vegetables, Roasted Red Potatoes and assorted Desserts. The cost will be just $20 per person which includes tax and tip. However, for any beverages you order, the cost and tip will be an additional charge. Please submit your payment following the reservation procedure below. To be included, your payment must be received by Friday, August 30. We look forward to seeing you at this great event.


Friday, September 6 - Happy Hour at the Beach Cabana begins at 6 PM, with food being served at 6:30 PM, and ending at 8 PM.

Please bring a heavy appetizer or dessert, enough for 8 people to share, plus your own beverages. Ice, cups, plates and flatware will be provided.


Sunday, September 22 - Tidewater’s fourth and final summer concert will be on Sunday, September 22, with the DNR Band

performing. The band will perform from 5-7 PM. This is a free event, and it is held on the horseshoe in front of the Amenity

Center. Just bring your own chair, snacks and beverages. This is a rain or shine event! In case of rain, do not bring a chair as the

performance will be held in the Amenity Center. Sponsored by TPCA Recreation Committee.


Looking Ahead:

Friday, October 4 - The last summer Beach Cabana night of the season is on Friday, October 4 and begins at 6 PM, with food being served at 6:30 PM, and ending at 8 PM. Our last outdoor Beach Cabana night will be a Costume Party! Prizes will be awarded to the man and the woman with the best costume. Participation is not required. Please bring a heavy appetizer or dessert, enough for 8 people to share, plus your own beverages. Ice, cups, plates and flatware will be provided. If you have not made it to Beach Cabana night, you won’t be disappointed as residents look to share good times with old friends and new.


Wednesday, October 9 - Boat Trip to Barefoot Landing - If you were able to travel with Captain Harold when we ventured up to

Ocean Isle, you know what fun the boat trip was. This time we will sail down the waterway to Barefoot Landing. There are many

restaurants in Barefoot, so you can choose where you would like to eat and make your own reservations or just play it by ear. The round-trip ride is just $6 per person with food costs up to you. The boat holds 120 passengers, so be sure to get your reservations in starting on Sunday, September 1. The boat departs from Harbourgate Marina at 2121 Little River Neck Road. Please arrive by 3:30 PM for a 4 PM departure. The boat returns at 6:30 PM. Remember to bring a jacket or wrap, and possibly a hat, as the trip back may be cool. Please follow the reservations procedure at the end of this column.


Thursday, October 24 - Bus Trip to Charleston – leaving Tidewater at approximately 6:45 AM and returning at 5:30 PM. Enjoy a stress-free luxury bus trip to Charleston (bathroom on board)! The trip includes an historic carriage ride with time to walk around the Market area, harbor tour (including box lunch), and a tour of the Boone Hall Plantation. The cost is $115 per person, and is due by Sunday, August 25. Please follow the reservation procedures below.

Please read below to sign up for an event!


YOUR CHECK IS YOUR REGISTRATION: To register for an event, place your check made out to ROTSC in an envelope. On the


outside of the envelope include the following: names of all people attending, your phone number and email address. Place the envelope


in the gold mail box at the Fitness Center by the advertised cutoff date. There will be a notice on the box if the event is full and a waiting


list will be established if necessary.


For events where reserved tables are available, payments for a full table of 10 must be included in one envelope. If you are not part of a


reserved table, you will be assigned to a table with others. If you are out of town, you may mail your check and information to the

 Christmas In September! Sometimes the most enjoyable part of the

holidays is decorating your tree. Start the holidays early making some

of your own decorations. Join Marylou Convey and Marilyn Drange and

make ornaments with alcohol inks and pebbles. We will be providing

the materials to create your ornaments. The workshop is on Monday,

September 30 at the Amenity Center starting at 12:30 PM. Cost is $10.

Fall Is Here! Join Judy Keyes and Marsha Smith for

a class on fall decorations on Monday, October 7

at 10 AM at the Amenity Center. Wine corks will be

utilized to create a pumpkin, grapes, and apple cork décor. The cost will be $10

and corks, leaves, ribbons, and other decorations will be available to use your

imagination. Please save wine corks for the class. Reply by Monday, September 23

Explore Cupcake Decorating with Pam Rudge on Monday,

October 28 at the Amenity Center beginning at 10 AM.

Learn simple cupcake decorating tips with frostings, filling

and using a piping bag. Other easy techniques to make

fancy cupcakes using simple swirls will be taught. Instruction

handouts will be provided. Cost is $20 and all tools will be

provided. Class is limited to 12 students. Please contact Kathy Turnauer by
